The Municipal Theatre António Pinheiro (TMAP) in Tavira presented its new cultural season for the period between September and December, which includes theatre, music, dance, opera, cinema, comedy and activities for different audiences. The municipal cultural facility, which celebrated its first year of activity since its reopening, aims to consolidate the programming lines already developed and integrate new artists and audiences.
Among the highlights of the programming, Rodrigo Leão presents "The Boy from the Mountain" on October 24th, the date that marks the anniversary of the theatre inaugurated in 1917, in a concert featuring the Children's Choir Group of the Tavira Music Academy. Raquel Tavares takes to the same stage in October, while in November it is the turn of The Legendary Tigerman, Paulo Furtado's project, to present a musical proposal between blues and rock'n'roll.
Dance has a significant presence with the National Ballet Company in "Only Duos" and the International Classical Ballet with "Swan Lake". Opera returns to the venue with Mozart's "The Magic Flute", continuing a journey that has already included "La Traviata" and "La Bohème". The municipality has also established a protocol with the São João National Theatre to host "Maiúscula" with Luísa Cruz.
December will be dedicated to Christmas and the community, with performances by the Gospel Collective, Christmas Choir Meeting, the second edition of "Movement and Magic: Tavira's Christmas in Dance" and the Christmas Concert by the Algarve Orchestra. For the youngest, the Baby Concerts return with Luísa Sobral as the guest artist, and the educational project "Music Gives Work" continues to introduce professions related to music.
