Under the Circula PT program, retirees and pensioners with monthly incomes equal to or less than 1.2 times the Social Support Index, that is, approximately 644.56 euros in 2026, can benefit from a 25% discount on the monthly pass. Beneficiaries of the Solidary Complement for the Elderly are included in the tier with a 50% discount. Access to these benefits requires an application to the entity issuing the pass and proof of the required conditions.
In museums, monuments, and palaces managed by Museus e Monumentos de Portugal, visitors aged 65 or over receive a 50% discount. Monuments and archaeological sites under the management of Património Cultural also offer the senior ticket with a 50% discount for people aged 65 or over. Residents in Portugal can also visit the spaces covered by the free admission regime free of charge for 52 days per year, regardless of age.
Some municipal councils offer their own senior cards with local discounts. In the Algarve, the Cartão Portimão Sénior provides access to discounts at the Municipal Auditorium, municipal swimming pools, and participating entities. Albufeira also has a Municipal Senior Card for people aged 65 or over who are registered and permanent residents in the municipality for at least one year. Requirements and benefits vary from municipality to municipality. To prove pensioner status, beneficiaries of Social Security can obtain a Statement of pensioner status on the entity's portal.
