Only 186 thousand Portuguese have already given their opinion on the new euro banknotes

Only 186 thousand Portuguese have already expressed their opinion on the new euro banknotes, in a public consultation period that is coming to an end. The European Central Bank (ECB) established a two-month deadline for Europeans to express their opinions on the new banknote design.

The consultation covers all countries in the euro area and aims to collect suggestions and preferences from European citizens regarding the appearance of future banknotes. However, Portuguese participation has been relatively low.

The ECB is the entity responsible for coordinating this banknote redesign process and for collecting opinions from citizens of all countries that use the European single currency. This initiative is part of a broader process of modernizing the image of euro banknotes.
