The Portuguese national team coach José Mourinho commented on the possibility of Lisbon hosting the 2030 World Cup final, stating that he "would like" that to happen. However, the coach acknowledged that Real Madrid's stadium, in Madrid, is the ideal location to host the tournament final.
Mourinho made a point of clarifying that his opinion about Madrid was not related to him currently being the manager of Real Madrid. The Portuguese has been managing the 'merengues' since last season.
The 2030 World Cup will be jointly organized by Portugal, Spain and Morocco, in a tri-nation bid that promises to make history in the organization of world championships. The distribution of matches and main events among the three countries continues to be defined.
