Farioli confirms Porto's absence ahead of facing Benfica

Glorioso 1904 – Se é notícia do Benfica, está aqui11 September 2026 at 16:30

Francesco Farioli confirmed that Victor Froholdt will not be available for Porto's game against Casa Pia, in the 6th round of the League, scheduled for Saturday at 6pm, in Rio Maior. The Danish midfielder has not yet recovered from the concussion suffered in the match against Moreirense, when he was violently hit in the face and left the pitch on a stretcher. Froholdt also missed the following game against Manchester City and continues to recover.

The player has already returned to training at Olival, having done modified work on Thursday, but Farioli explained that he is still not ready to play. "Unfortunately, it was a significant trauma, as you can see in the images. He is recovering well, but we are still not going to count on him," the coach declared in the preview of the match.

Froholdt's absence is particularly significant for Porto, as the Danish midfielder has been a key piece since his arrival at the club, last summer. The player has been an undisputed starter in Farioli's team.

The absence comes at a particularly demanding time for the dragons, who besides the game against Casa Pia, also have the clássico against Benfica ahead, scheduled for the 7th round. Farioli referred to the absence as significant for the team, which will have to find alternatives in midfield for the upcoming fixtures.
