Postal workers started an indefinite national strike after the failure of salary negotiations with the state-owned company. The stoppage was approved in assemblies held by state unions on Thursday night, with 35 unions voting in favor of the strike. In Acre, the vote took place on Friday afternoon.
According to the Interstate Federation of Postal Workers' Unions (Findect), the strike began at 10 PM. The federation reported there were "successive rounds of negotiation" with the company, including mediation attempts by the Superior Labor Court (TST), but the postal service maintained its position and workers rejected the proposals presented.
Beyond the salary impasse, another point of conflict involves the health plan of the state company's employees, which is also part of the workers' demands in negotiation with the postal service management.
