Since 2018, Iberian orcas interacted with a research vessel in seven distinct episodes. During these encounters, a total of 26 orcas were identified, of which eight established direct contact with the vessel. The contacts were mainly carried out by juvenile individuals.
The underwater images captured during the encounters made it possible to document a variety of behaviors. These ranged from light touches to pushes strong enough to make the boat rotate or tilt.
