The Judicial Police arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to kill his nephew. The arrest took place within the framework of strong evidence for the practice of a crime of attempted homicide.

The facts are said to have occurred on September 7th, in the region of Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, in the Azores.

The man was brought before the competent authorities for the first judicial interrogations, where the applicable precautionary measures were applied.

Maritime Police rescue three people from a speedboat that ran aground in Viana

The Maritime Police and the Viana do Castelo Lifeboat Station rescued three people last night after the high-speed boat they were traveling in ran aground approximately 60 nautical miles west of Viana do Castelo. The three crew members, two Spanish and one Swedish, aged between 25 and 40, were initially rescued at sea by a merchant ship, after an alert received by the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre in Lisbon. Following the mobilization of resources from the Captaincy, Maritime Police, GNR and Judicial Police, the transfer was carried out approximately two nautical miles from the outer breakwater of Viana do Castelo. The Spanish-flagged speedboat was seized as a precautionary measure.
