The Instituto Nacional do Seguro Social (INSS) will hold a service marathon this weekend, on the 12th and 13th, offering 340 spots focused on social evaluations. Two Social Security agencies will participate in the action: the Duque de Caxias unit, with 180 spots, and the Praça da Bandeira location, with 160 spots.
To participate in the service marathon, interested parties must make a prior appointment through telephone center 135, which operates from Monday to Saturday from 7am to 10pm, or through the Meu INSS website and app.
The social evaluation consists of an interview conducted by an INSS social worker, who analyzes the living conditions, income, and family context of those requesting certain benefits. The procedure is used, for example, to apply for BPC/Loas, a benefit aimed at elderly people aged 65 and over and people with disabilities who prove low income.
BPC/Loas is paid by the Ministério do Desenvolvimento Social (MDS) and operated by the INSS, guaranteeing a minimum monthly salary to beneficiaries who meet the established criteria.
