The deficit of the Spanish public administrations, excluding local administration, stood at 33,668 million euros at the end of June 2026, representing an increase of 6.4% compared to the same period in 2025. This figure equates to a rate on GDP of 1.89%, higher by 0.01 percentage points than that recorded in the previous year, which was 1.88%.
Parallelly, the State's deficit alone rose to 2.5% through July, revealing an upward trajectory in Spanish public accounts during this period. The growth in the public deficit reflects the increase in expenditures relative to revenues, in an economic context that continues to pressure public finances.
The data indicate that the fiscal situation deteriorated slightly compared to the previous year, although the percentage increase is modest. The exclusion of local administration from the calculations suggests that the impact of local finances is not compensating for the imbalance recorded at the other levels of public administration.
