Spain overtakes Algarve and leads top 5 of Portuguese holiday choices

Spain was the most chosen destination by Portuguese for July and August holidays, overtaking the Algarve for the first time. The information comes from card purchase data recorded by the Multibanco network.

The neighboring country came ahead of the district of Faro, which has traditionally been one of the main choices for Portuguese holidays. However, the Algarve showed a slight decline this year.

This reversal in the ranking of Portuguese preferences shows a change in holiday habits, with more consumers choosing to travel abroad rather than domestic destinations.
