Childhood Guarantee: who is entitled to this monthly support?

SAPO Notícias11 September 2026 at 14:46

The Childhood Guarantee is a social benefit that aims to supplement the income of Portuguese families with children and young people. It is an additional monthly support that can be requested by households that meet certain eligibility criteria. The objective of this measure is to ensure better conditions for the development of children and young people in vulnerable situations. Many families who could benefit from this support are unaware, however, that they are entitled to request it. This benefit is part of the set of social protection measures existing in Portugal to support families with children, contributing to reducing the risk of child poverty in the country.
