Government Launches New Cultural Merit Projects Support Programme. Applications until 6 October

The government launched a new Cultural Merit Projects Support Programme. The programme aims to support cultural projects and opened an application period that runs until 6 October.

The programme has a total allocation of one million euros. Each application can receive support up to a maximum value of 50 thousand euros.

Additionally, the programme allows financing of up to 80% of the eligible expenditure of approved projects, which means that the promoters will need to secure the remaining percentage of the funding.

The judicial proceedings filed to stop the construction of the Pisão Dam, in Crato, have been returned to the Administrative and Fiscal Court of Castelo Branco by higher courts due to procedural errors. Construction works have been suspended since May, after the Central Southern Administrative Court ruled in favour of four environmental associations. In parallel, CIMAA proceeded with the signing of a 14.6 million euro contract for the hydraulic infrastructure work to supply water to the Póvoa e Meadas Water Treatment Plant, a project it considers can proceed as it has its own environmental impact statement. The overall project, valued at over 220 million euros, will occupy 10,000 hectares and involves the submersion of the village of Pisão.
