Azorean Business Owners Request Competition Authority Analysis of Air Fares

Azorean business owners have requested that the Competition Authority analyze the air fares charged in the region. The request comes in a context of concern about the costs of air transport for passengers and businesses in the archipelago.

The Competition Authority itself, in an opinion issued in May 2026, had already identified risks associated with market concentration. According to that opinion, greater proximity between the two operators could reduce competitive pressure and lead to higher prices for consumers.
