The president of PS-Madeira, Célia Pessegueiro, accused, this Friday, the Regional Government of Madeira of having political responsibility for the rise in fuel prices expected next Monday. According to the socialist leader, this situation should put gasoline and diesel above two euros per liter.
Célia Pessegueiro contested the justification presented by the Regional Executive, which attributes the increase exclusively to the evolution of international markets. The president of PS-Madeira argued that the Regional Government has the capacity to act through fiscal measures to mitigate the impact on consumers.
This accusation comes in a context of growing concern about the cost of living in the region, where fuels represent a significant expense for Madeiran families. PS-Madeira believes that the Regional Government should have lowered taxes to address this situation.
