Porto considers it "fair" that the State financially helps future works in health centers

Correio da Manhã11 September 2026 at 14:57

The Municipal Chamber of Porto considers it "fair" that the State co-finances the rehabilitation works of health centers in the municipality. The councilor recalled that the municipality had already identified, in 2024, several health centers whose works could benefit from financing through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

However, the municipality ended up dropping some applications due to the tight deadlines that were required. The Chamber understands that the maintenance and rehabilitation of these health spaces should count on state support.

This position arises in the context of an agreement between the municipality and the Ministry of Health for the transfer of competences in the health area, which may imply the transfer of more than 200 professionals to the municipality. The mayor underlined that the municipality is available to assume responsibilities, but expects reciprocity from the State regarding the financing of infrastructures.

The municipal executive expressed itself favorably to continue the dialogue with the Government on this matter, defending that the state financial support to health center works is a way to guarantee better conditions of care for the population.

According to a PF report attached to the Master case, Flavio appears as a direct interlocutor of Vorcaro in negotiations related to the financing of the production, including payment collections, in-person meetings and monitoring of the filming. The PF request and the PGR opinion led minister André Mendonça, of the STF, to open a specific inquiry to investigate Flavio.
