Carneiro: forgetting municipalities leaves communities unprotected

The Socialist leader met with members of the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP), warning that forgetting municipalities leaves communities unprotected. During the meeting, he emphasized that it is in municipalities that responses to the problems of the populations are given.

Carneiro argued that municipalities play a fundamental role in protecting and supporting local communities. His intervention aimed to reinforce the importance of not neglecting local power.

The Socialist leader announced that he will bring the concerns raised at the meeting to the Socialist Autarchical Convention, which takes place on Saturday. This event will thus be the forum where these issues related to municipalities will be debated.

SINTAB ACCUSES GOVERNMENT OF LEAVING CACHÃO SLAUGHTERHOUSE WITHOUT CONCRETE RESPONSES

SINTAB accused the Government of not presenting concrete measures to guarantee the continuity of the Matadouro Industrial do Cachão (Cachão Industrial Slaughterhouse), in response to a question from PCP in the Assembly of the Republic about the insolvency process of the infrastructure. The union criticized that, although the Executive recognizes the importance of the slaughterhouse for the Trás-os-Montes region, it limits itself to referring responsibilities to the owning municipalities, Mirandela and Vila Flor, and to the bodies of the insolvency process. SINTAB considered it particularly serious that, days after the Council of Ministers met in Bragança with speeches about valuing the Interior, the Government does not take an active position. The union warned that the infrastructure is essential for livestock production, employment and the regional economy, demanding that municipalities and the Executive present concrete solutions.
