As Portuguese schools began another school year, with the usual orientations and the return of students to the classrooms, this moment traditionally marks the start of a new phase for the school community.
The day brought with it a mix of feelings in the schools. Despite the optimism that accompanies the beginning of each school year, there is also a present concern among education professionals.
In Vila Nova de Gaia, parents expressed the hope that this school year would proceed peacefully, without major problems or interruptions that might harm their children's education.
However, school principals made a more direct appeal to the political authorities. These leaders are asking that the Government and the opposition reach an agreement that guarantees stability in schools, thus avoiding the uncertainty that can compromise the functioning of the education system.
