ANAREC – National Association of Fuel Retailers – accused the Government of "lying" to the Portuguese people and demanded more inspections on fuels. The association expressed opposition to government measures in the fuel sector.
The association's representative stated that the Executive "has to lower the tax burden on fuels." This position arises in a context of concern about prices charged in Portugal.
Companies in the sector are "losing excessive competitiveness" compared to Spain, according to ANAREC. This competitive difference with the neighboring country has been one of the sector's main complaints.
