Airbus wins contract to build France's future military satellite constellation

Airbus Defence and Space, in partnership with French company Unseenlabs, was selected by France's Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA) to lead the CASSIOPÉE program, which aims to replace by 2032 the current CERES constellation dedicated to signals intelligence (SIGINT). The contract, announced by French Minister of the Armed Forces Catherine Vautrin during the International Space Summit in Paris, represents an investment in France's sovereignty and strategic autonomy in the space domain. Airbus will be responsible for system integration, ground segment, control center, and supply of satellites based on the cutting-edge S250 platform, while Unseenlabs will contribute expertise in mission planning and data processing.

August IPCA deflation goes beyond the Itaipu effect

The August IPCA registered deflation of 0.32%, driven mainly by the Itaipu bonus, which reduced electricity prices across the country. However, the result cannot be explained solely by this effect, since four of the nine groups monitored by IBGE also registered deflation: Housing (-1.87%), Transportation (-0.86%), Food and beverages, and Communication. Residential electricity fell 7.63%, while airline tickets retreated 13.17% and fuels 0.91%. In the 12-month accumulated, the index stood at 4.22%, within the target range. The text also compares food inflation: 54.2% under the Bolsonaro government versus 13.6% under the Lula government, highlighting that despite the favorable data, the consumer still doesn't feel relief.

Wall Street opens in the 'green', with unchanged inflation

Wall Street opened higher this Friday, with the Dow Jones rising 1.11% to 52,641 points, the S&P 500 gaining 0.94% to 7,663 points and the Nasdaq advancing 0.96% to 26,338 points. US inflation remained unchanged in August at 3.4%, while the consumer price index excluding food and energy rose 0.4% monthly and 2.4% year-on-year. Oil fell, with WTI losing 3.59% to $98.80 per barrel and Brent dropping 3.33% to $104.06. Boeing, Cisco, Caterpillar, JPMorgan and Sherwin-Williams were among the companies that posted gains.
