US inflation came in above expectations in the latest report. The consumer price index, excluding food and energy, rose 0.3%, while analysts had estimated an increase of just 0.2%.
The overall CPI recorded a rise of 0.4% compared to the previous month and 3.4% year-on-year, revealing persistent inflationary pressures in the American economy.
This data increases the likelihood of another interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve, which may be forced to maintain a restrictive monetary policy to control inflation.
