Parker Toolie-Noongwook, a 15-year-old teenager, survived after spending three days clinging to an overturned fishing boat in frigid Alaska waters. The young man was found by rescue teams trapped against the capsized vessel, near St. Lawrence Island, in the Bering Sea. According to reports, he went all that time without food or water.
Parker was halibut fishing with his older brother, Sidney, and their cousin, when the approximately 5.5-meter boat encountered problems with waves and capsized. Both Parker's brother and cousin died in the accident, leaving the teenager alone on the overturned boat.
The Coast Guard pilot, Lieutenant Commander Jonathon Resch, described the young man's survival as "nothing short of miraculous." He stated that people do not survive this type of situation in frigid waters, let alone after capsizing the boat during the night.
