Documents from the investigation into Banco Master were made public on Thursday and reveal, according to the Federal Police, a scheme to favor Daniel Vorcaro's bank within the Central Bank. The PF states that two employees of the agency defended Vorcaro's bank's interests and received advantages in exchange for this protection.
The documents show that Vorcaro maintained a WhatsApp group to ask for guidance directly from Central Bank supervision chiefs. Through this channel, he sought support and direction on matters related to his bank within the agency.
The investigations indicate that the two Central Bank employees used their positions to benefit Banco Master in exchange for personal advantages. The PF identified evidence that there was a improper relationship between the public servants and the private sector.
The Banco Master case is considered one of the biggest financial scandals in Brazil, involving suspected embezzlement of billions of reais. The disclosure of these documents broadens the focus of the investigations to alleged irregularities in the Central Bank's own oversight.
