The day would be marked by the release of inflation data in the United States, expected at 1:30 PM Lisbon time, with the market anticipating that inflation had remained at 3.4% in September. Millennium's research noted that a value higher than expected could undermine market sentiment, while a decline could be celebrated. The rescheduling of the Middle East conflict had caused oil prices to escalate, potentially bringing new inflationary pressures that would force central banks to more aggressive interest rate hikes. BCP led the gains in Lisbon, driven by the favorable environment for the sector.
Oil was trading lower, with Brent falling 3.64% to $103.71 and crude declining 3.35% to $99.05, which brought some relief after consecutive sessions of sharp rises. As for currencies, the euro fell 0.16% against the dollar to $1.15909 and broke 0.14% against the pound to 0.85826 pounds.
