A fire broke out today at Cerro do Entrudo, on the border of the municipality of Mértola with the Algarve, mobilizing 115 operatives and eight aerial means to combat the flames. The fire, which started at 11:50 through the GNR surveillance towers, is consuming an area of scrubland and pasture. According to the sub-regional second commander of Emergency and Civil Protection of Baixo Alentejo, José Horta, there are no homes in danger, animals on the fire line or recorded victims. The main difficulty on the operations theatre is related to difficult access and steep slopes that complicate the passage of firefighters.
