The play "ARTE" by French playwright Yasmina Reza will be presented on September 19th at the Casa da Cultura in Santa Comba Dão. The direction is by António Pires and the cast features Cristóvão Campos, Nuno Lopes, and Rui Melo. The show has an approximate duration of 90 minutes.
The play follows three friends whose relationship is put to the test after Sérgio buys a completely white painting, with white stripes, signed by a renowned contemporary artist. The acquisition provokes a reaction from Marco, who does not hide his disbelief at the choice, while Ivo tries, without much success, to take on the role of mediator between the two.
The discussion around the artwork quickly goes beyond the question of personal tastes and brings to the surface differences of opinion, old resentments, and revelations that ultimately call into question a friendship built over several years. With an approach marked by humor, the play addresses friendship relationships and the difficulty of accepting different ways of interpreting the same reality.
The show is part of the Casa da Cultura 2024/2027 programming | Rede de Teatros e Cineteatros Portugueses, promoted by the Municipality of Santa Comba Dão, in partnership with the Conservatório de Música e Artes do Dão, and with funding from the Direção-Geral das Artes. It is also one of the initiatives of the program of the 12th Rojão Grande Theater Festival.
