Porto City Council installed eight kiosks equipped with public toilets at various points throughout the city. This infrastructure was part of a project launched by the previous executive and represented an investment of 475.5 thousand euros.
With the change in leadership at the municipality, the new team decided to dismantle and remove all the kiosks that had been installed. The decision to remove the equipment was made without any interim solution being provided to replace the public sanitation facilities.
The case illustrates the consequences of the lack of continuity between municipal terms, where projects implemented by one administration can be completely abandoned by the next, resulting in waste of public resources. Citizens were thus left without access to the public toilets that had been created.
