The independent councilors on the Funchal Municipal Council, Luís Filipe Santos and Jorge Afonso Freitas, invoked the judicial process related to the Forum Madeira construction works to appeal for greater rigor in urban inspection and the issuance of usage licenses.
The councilors published a statement this Friday on the occasion of September 11th, in which they reference the Forum Madeira "towers," emphasizing that it is a reality "completely different and with no relation" to the situation they wished to address.
Through this legal example, the independent councilors seek to demonstrate the need for greater vigilance and control on the part of the municipal council regarding the licensing of construction works and buildings in the municipality.
The initiative comes in the context of a broader debate on urban regulation in Funchal, with the councilors using a specific past case to reinforce their appeal for stricter practices on the part of the municipal authority.
