The wholesale distribution of the Chinese car brand Zeekr in Poland will be handled by Salvador Caetano in partnership with AutoWallis, a company with which the Portuguese group has been collaborating for about four years in various markets in Central and Eastern Europe. The joint-venture is preparing the local distribution, retail and after-sales structure of the 100% luxury electric car brand of the Chinese group Geely, created in 2021, planning to enter the Polish market in the last quarter of the year with five models: Zeekr 001, X, 7X, 9X and 7GT.
The group from Vila Nova de Gaia has already been handling the Iberian import and distribution of Zeekr since April, which joined the Chinese portfolio of the Portuguese company where brands such as BYD, Dongfeng, Farizon and Xpeng were already present. Sérgio Ribeiro, executive director and CEO of Global Automotive Distribution at Grupo Salvador Caetano, stated that the experience accumulated with Zeekr in other European markets has allowed a thorough understanding of the brand's potential and the factors necessary to build a solid and sustainable project.
Poland is one of the largest automotive markets in Central and Eastern Europe, representing approximately 8% of the European Union's passenger car fleet. In the first half of this year, new car sales increased by 9.4%, with registrations of 100% electric vehicles growing by 20% compared to the same period last year.
Founded in 1946 and currently comprising around a hundred companies, Salvador Caetano achieved an aggregate turnover of approximately five billion euros in the last fiscal year. The company currently employs nearly 9,000 people in 45 countries, with business activities in automotive industry, vehicle import and distribution, mobility services, industrial equipment, workshops and after-sales solutions.
