Strong rain and wind are expected in Portugal on Sunday, September 13. The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issued the weather forecast for the different Portuguese territories, indicating precipitation in the Azores, warm weather on the mainland and partly cloudy skies in Madeira.

On the mainland, the weather will be warm with partly cloudy or clear skies. A small temperature increase is expected, more significant in the maximum values and on the west coast. The wind will be generally light from the east quadrant, temporarily from the north or northwest on the coastal strip during the afternoon. On the highlands, the wind will blow moderately, between 20 and 35 km/h, until mid-morning and again from late afternoon.

In the Azores, rain will affect both island groups at different times. In the Western group, comprising Flores and Corvo, periods of weak rain are expected during the night and morning, with clear spells from the afternoon. The wind will blow from the southwest, between 5 and 20 km/h, later rotating to the northwest. In the Eastern group, which includes São Miguel and Santa Maria, precipitation is expected at the end of the day, with the wind starting light and then blowing from the east, between 10 and 20 km/h.

In the Madeira archipelago, the sky will be generally partly cloudy, with no rain expected. The wind will blow from the northeast, light to moderate, with speeds between 10 and 30 km/h. At the east and west ends of the island of Madeira and on the highlands, the wind may reach 40 km/h, these being the areas with the strongest wind.
