Rock in Rio has generated an economic impact that extends beyond the limits of the City of Rock. A survey conducted by the Rio de Janeiro State Supermarket Association (ASSERJ) confirmed revenue growth at various establishments across the city during the festival. Some establishments registered an average sales increase of 25.4% between September 4 and 6, compared to the previous weekend.

The survey also revealed how the audience follows the festival. The majority, 77.6%, prefer watching the performances on television or streaming, without necessarily attending the shows in person. In-person gatherings are also part of the viewers' plans.

Among those who choose to watch the festival at home, 32.7% prefer gathering small groups, while 17.6% plan to bring larger crowds together to watch the shows. Meanwhile, 31.3% watch alone or only with people who already live in the location.

Currently, the IUC is paid annually in the month corresponding to the vehicle's registration, which for owners of multiple vehicles means several different deadlines.
