SIC, a Portuguese broadcaster, will produce a remake of the novel "Avenida Brasil," a success by João Emanuel Carneiro aired by Globo in 2012. The new version will be titled "Avenida Portugal" and is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
Filming is expected to begin later this year, but SIC has not yet revealed details about the cast or about the changes that will be made in adapting the story for the Portuguese audience.
The bet also draws attention because of the timing: in Brazil, the original plot is preparing to return to air with "Avenida Brasil 2," the continuation of the plot scheduled for January 2027.
