The Orquestra Jovem Sesc Brasil will hold two special concerts to commemorate Sesc's 80 years of service. On September 11th, the group will perform at the Sesc Educational Center in Rio de Janeiro, with a live broadcast on the Sesc Brasil YouTube channel. On September 13th, the institution's anniversary date, the orchestra will give a presentation open to the public at the Sesc Quitandinha Cultural Center in Petrópolis, in the Mountain Region of Rio de Janeiro.
The presentation will have artistic direction and conduction by maestro Geovane Marquetti. The repertoire includes the orchestral composition "Trama das Águas Dançantes" (Weaving of the Dancing Waters), created especially for the celebration of the institution's anniversary, in addition to the Latin American classic "Mambo No. 5" by Pérez Prado, a medley with songs by Alceu Valença, and music from the soundtrack of the film "O Auto da Compadecida," among other works.
The Orquestra Jovem Sesc Brasil is made up of 59 young musicians, who are students of musical projects by Sesc developed in 11 states of Brazil. The initiative aims to promote inclusion and artistic development.
