Loriga River Beach Wins 2nd National Place in the 2026 River Beaches Guide Award

The Praia Fluvial de Loriga, in the municipality of Seia, won second place nationally in the "River Beach of the Year 2026" award, promoted by the River Beaches Guide. The winner of first place was Praia Fluvial de Valhelhas, located in the municipality of Guarda, also in the Serra da Estrela region.

The results were determined by votes from thousands of readers and bathers, who voted until August 31st, from a total of 216 competing bathing areas across the country.

The Praia Fluvial de Loriga stood out for its unique scenic beauty, crystalline spring waters, and strong tourist appeal, being located in the heart of the Glacial Valley, in the core of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park.

The achievement reflects the continued work of the municipality of Seia, the Loriga Parish Council, and local authorities in the preservation, accessibility, and promotion of this bathing area. The River Beaches Guide organization announced that the complete ranking list of the 100 most voted river beaches of 2026 will be revealed shortly.
