The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a red alert, indicating great danger of storms, at 09:08 this Thursday (10), covering the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo. A total of 489 municipalities in these three states are under alert, which remains valid until the end of the day. The forecast indicates rain exceeding 60 mm/h, winds above 100 km/h and hail, with high risk of damage to buildings, power outages, crop losses, falling trees, flooding and disruptions to road transportation.

In Paraná, two tornadoes were recorded and a family was buried due to the storm that hit the region. The meteorological alert also indicates risk of tornadoes for São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná. The main affected areas in Paraná, according to Inmet, are the north pioneer, central western, northwest, southwest, west, southeast, north central, central eastern and central south regions.

The government of São Paulo set up a crisis cabinet to monitor the risk of storms that should persist until Saturday. Authorities remain on maximum alert given the severity of the meteorological conditions forecast for the affected regions.

Sun for some, rain for others: the weather changes in Portugal and not all regions will escape the 'bad weather'

Portugal should prepare for a weekend of sunny weather and rising temperatures, with the mainland and Madeira entering summer mode under the influence of an anticyclone that will ensure clear or partly cloudy skies and maximums that could reach 37 degrees in Beja on Sunday. The Azores will be the exception, with a cold front crossing the Western and Central groups throughout the weekend, bringing light and scattered rain, although without significant changes in temperatures, which will remain between 24 and 29 degrees. The atmospheric stability should consolidate in mainland Portugal and Madeira, with Funchal potentially reaching 29 degrees on Sunday.
