The fine that the Lisbon City Council will have to pay in the case known as "Russiagate" has been reduced to 463 thousand euros. Initially, the amount was higher, but the reduction resulted from the partial success of the appeals submitted by the Lisbon municipality.
Lawyer Tiago Félix da Costa, who represented the Lisbon City Council, confirmed that the decrease in the fine was due to the partial acceptance of the appeals filed by the municipality.
According to the lawyer, the delays in the process were not caused by any dilatory tactics or actions by the municipality, which allowed for the justification of the statute of limitations on some of the administrative offenses applied to the council.
This result represents a partial victory for the Lisbon City Council in the case involving alleged Russian interferences that has been dragging on through the courts for several years.
