CDS-PP Machico commemorated the 32 years since Caniçal was elevated to town status, using the occasion to make an appeal to the executive power for "investment and concrete responses" for the parish. The party considers that the date should be celebrated with pride, but should also serve as a moment of reflection on the present and, above all, on the future of the locality.
Roberto Silva, vice-president of CDS-PP Machico and native of Caniçal, argues that the parish needs concrete measures in areas considered priority. Among these areas are housing, public spaces, fishing, security and creating opportunities for young people.
The party did not specify in the statement what type of concrete measures it wants to see implemented, having only indicated the areas it considers most urgent for the development of the parish of Caniçal.
