IMF SAYS THE GOVERNMENT IS AT A STANDSTILL

Folha 810 September 2026 at 15:51

The International Monetary Fund warned that Angola must adopt "proactive fiscal consolidation", arguing that the country needs to accelerate economic reforms. IMF economists said that the government is at a standstill with regard to the implementation of measures to promote foreign investment, reduce oil dependency and accelerate economic diversification.

The IMF carried out an assessment of the country following the financial adjustment program, which ended in 2021. According to the institution's economists, a favorable external environment contributed to a stronger external position and to the growth of non-oil activity, to better access to markets and to the decline in inflation.

Old iPhone models see price hikes of up to R$ 2 thousand. Understand the reason

Old iPhone models had price adjustments of up to 14.8% at the Apple Store, with increases of up to R$ 2,000, even after the launch of a new generation. The 1 TB iPhone Air went from R$ 13,499 to R$ 15,499, while other versions of the model increased by R$ 500. The reason is the shortage of memory and storage chips caused by high demand from artificial intelligence data centers, which raised global price indices for smartphones, tablets, and notebooks. This year, Apple did not launch a new Air generation, postponing the update to early 2027.
