Madeiran culture in focus in central Lisbon

The Madeira Festival kicked off today at Jardim do Arco do Cego, near Saldanha Metro station, in Lisbon, promoting the culture, traditions, gastronomy and crafts of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The event is promoted by the Parish Council of Avenidas Novas and has its inauguration scheduled for 7:30 PM.

The festival is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the autonomies of the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira, seeking to highlight Madeiran heritage and identity. The main objective is to bring Madeiran culture and traditions closer to the population of Lisbon.

The choice of Jardim do Arco do Cego as the event location aims to provide easy access for participants, given that this area is well served by public transport, namely the Saldanha metro line.
