Owner of Portinsurance, Melior and Median passes to the French Ascentiel

Eco10 September 2026 at 15:48

The French group Ascentiel Groupe bought the Concentra Group, specialized in insurance and reinsurance intermediation in Spain and Portugal. In the Portuguese market, the Concentra Group owns the brokers Portinsurance, Melior and Median. The agreement provides for the acquisition of the majority position previously held by the BlackFin Capital Partners fund, with the founder of Concentra, Javier López-Linares, and his executive team reinvesting to remain as minority shareholders.

The transaction formalizes the exit of the BlackFin fund, which had been the majority shareholder since 2022. The completion of the deal is subject to approval by the regulatory authorities, namely the Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority in Portugal, the DGSFP in Spain, and the FCA in the United Kingdom.

The integration of the Concentra Group's operations with the presence that Ascentiel already had on the Iberian Peninsula creates a regional platform with estimated revenues of around 62 million euros and approximately 370 employees. Globally, the combined group projects to exceed 150 million euros in revenues as early as 2026.

Javier López-Linares will continue as executive chairman, accompanied by his management team. The group will maintain its current brands and will continue to operate normally. This is Ascentiel's third acquisition on the Iberian Peninsula, after having integrated Ascentiel International in 2024 and PMQ in July 2026. Ascentiel is supported by the investment companies Cobepa and Amundi PEF.

Old iPhone models see price hikes of up to R$ 2 thousand. Understand the reason

Old iPhone models had price adjustments of up to 14.8% at the Apple Store, with increases of up to R$ 2,000, even after the launch of a new generation. The 1 TB iPhone Air went from R$ 13,499 to R$ 15,499, while other versions of the model increased by R$ 500. The reason is the shortage of memory and storage chips caused by high demand from artificial intelligence data centers, which raised global price indices for smartphones, tablets, and notebooks. This year, Apple did not launch a new Air generation, postponing the update to early 2027.
