False PJ inspectors placed in preventive and house arrest

Defesa de Espinho10 September 2026 at 15:22

Two men, aged 38 and 41, were arrested by the Public Security Police on the morning of September 8th, in Espinho, on suspicion of carrying out at least six robberies in the city during the summer months. The arrest resulted from judicial proceedings conducted by the Espinho Criminal Investigation Station.

After being presented to the competent judicial authority, different coercive measures were applied to the two suspects. One was placed in preventive detention, while the other was ordered to remain at home with electronic monitoring via an ankle bracelet.

According to the PSP, the suspects are strongly implicated in the six robberies. In one of the cases under investigation, one of the detainees allegedly falsely claimed to be a Judicial Police officer to carry out the robbery.

The investigation continues to fully clarify the facts and determine whether the suspects may be involved in other crimes beyond those already identified.
