Canoeist Lucas Jacob, athlete from Darque Kayak Clube in Viana do Castelo, began his participation today in the final phase of the Canoe Slalom World Cup in La Seu d'Urgell, Spain, representing the Portuguese National Team.
The Portuguese international arrives motivated by his performance in Vaires-sur-Marne, in Paris, where he achieved 24th place in the Men's Kayak qualifying rounds, becoming the best Portuguese athlete in the event. This result allowed him to move into the top-21 of the European ranking.
The competition in Spanish waters continues until September 13 and serves as preparation for the European Championships, which take place at the end of the month in Ivrea, Italy.
Lucas Jacob remains focused on accumulating international points in his journey toward qualification for the Olympic Games. The Viana club acknowledges a decline in conditions over the past five years, but emphasizes that the ambition of the athlete and Darque Kayak Clube remains intact.
