The Pederneira Funicular, in Nazaré, should open in January 2027, creating a public transport connection between the upper area and the beach. The works are practically completed, but tests and certifications need to be completed by the end of the year. The project includes accessibility for people with reduced mobility and bicycle transport, aiming to reduce automobile dependence and greenhouse gas emissions. The four-story building will have glass openings and lighting that will evoke the image of a lighthouse at night.
