Three military police officers were reported for passive military corruption in an investigation that examines a scheme of privileged policing offered in exchange for money. The action took place on Thursday morning, when teams from the Specialized Group for Public Security Action (Gaesp) of the State Public Prosecutor's Office of Rio de Janeiro carried out three preventive arrest warrants against the agents.
The operation represents the sixth phase of Operation Patrinus, which investigates corruption schemes, extortion and conduct deviations practiced by police assigned to the 39th BPM, located in Belford Roxo.
According to the MPRJ, two of the reported police officers are already imprisoned due to another proceeding arising from the same investigation. The warrants against them were executed at the Special Prison Battalion (BEP) and at the Joaquim Ferreira de Souza Public Jail.
