Union points out lack of pharmacy technicians at SESARAM

SAPO10 September 2026 at 14:09

The Union of Health Higher Technicians (STSS) warned about the lack of pharmacy technicians at SESARAM, the Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The shortage of professionals is hindering medication management at the health institution.

According to STSS, the current situation is jeopardizing the quality of pharmaceutical services provided to patients. The lack of human resources is creating operational difficulties in the functioning of SESARAM's pharmacies.

Faced with this reality, the Pharmacy Technicians assigned to SESARAM decided to submit a new disclaimer of responsibility. This action comes as a way to alert to the risks associated with the lack of staff in the pharmacies of the regional health institution.

Wall Street opens in the 'red'

The New York Stock Exchange opened in negative territory this Thursday, with the Dow Jones falling 0.32% to 52,214.87 points, the S&P500 retreating 0.51% to 7,597.01 points and the Nasdaq losing 0.77% to 26,050.54 points. The decline was driven by the US producer inflation report, which showed a 5.4% increase in August compared to the previous year, fueling fears of worsening inflationary pressures. Analysts also point to the surge in oil prices, with crude surpassing 100 dollars per barrel due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, and to statements by ECB President Christine Lagarde that inflation will remain above the 2% target for an extended period, raising the likelihood of greater aggressiveness in interest rate hikes.

Rib reshaping, an aesthetic procedure that fractures and repositions the lower ribs to thin the waist, is growing in popularity on social media, with influencers like Brazilian Maya Massafera and Australian Bec Zacharia sharing their experiences. The surgery, which does not remove the ribs but alters their position, is part of a larger "appearance enhancement" trend. Specialists warn of significant risks associated with the procedure, which includes bone fractures and potential impact on breathing, raising concerns about the normalization of extreme surgeries to meet increasingly unattainable beauty standards.
