Insolvencies grow in August. Hotel sector records biggest worsening

Insolvencies in Portugal increased by 5.1% year-on-year through August, with 619 insolvency proceedings filed by the companies themselves in the first eight months of the year. Insolvencies requested by third parties grew by 7.1%, while those filed by the companies themselves rose by 3.1%. Lisbon records the highest number of insolvencies (271), followed by Porto (242) and Braga (154), although Aveiro, Setúbal, Faro and Leiria are the municipalities with the highest growth.
