A digital influencer was arrested on charges of animal abuse in Aquidauana, in Mato Grosso do Sul, after videos showed abuse against a 40-day-old shih-tzu puppy. The images, shared on social media, captured Gabriela Cervantes Pereira throwing the female dog to the ground and then kicking the animal.
The case generated a series of complaints after the videos began circulating online. Teams from the General Investigations Section (SIG) of the 1st Police Delegation of Aquidauana located the influencer's residence and rescued the puppy.
According to the police report, the female dog was found in a state of apathy and frightened. The animal will undergo veterinary examinations to assess the abuse suffered.
