The Azores Agricultural Federation (FAA) expressed the intention that the 10 cent per liter support for agricultural diesel, recently announced by the Republic's Government, also be applied to Azorean farmers. This support is expected to be in effect until the end of 2026.
The FAA aims to ensure that past mistakes are not repeated, when farmers of the Autonomous Region of the Azores were left out of similar agricultural support measures.
The regional government and Azorean farmers have been advocating that support measures announced by the central government should also include the archipelago, in order to ensure equitable conditions for the regional agricultural sector.
The issue of including the Azores in agricultural diesel support policies is a recurring concern for regional agricultural entities, which warn of the need for equal treatment relative to the mainland.
