Investigation in São Paulo into producer of 'Dark Horse' had Justice denial for breaking businesswoman's financial secrecy

The Federal Police executed on Thursday (10), by order of Minister Flávio Dino of the Supreme Federal Court, a search and seizure warrant against businesswoman Karina Ferreira da Gama, owner of the Instituto Conhecer Brasil. She was already under investigation by the São Paulo Civil Police, which is looking into a contract between her NGO and the city hall worth R$ 157 million for the installation of 5,000 public wi-fi hotspots in the city.

The suspicion of São Paulo authorities is that part of this amount may have been directed to another company of Karina's, Go Up Entertainment, the producer responsible for the film "Dark Horse," which tells the story of former President Jair Bolsonaro. The work was sponsored by former banker Daniel Vorcaro.

The São Paulo inquiry was initiated in March and had its 90-day extension authorized by the Justice in a decision on August 31. In the same decision, the Justice responded to a request from the Civil Police to access Karina's and her companies' financial data, but the measure was not authorized. The reason for the denial was not reported in the article.
