The Municipality of Lousã will hold on Saturday a ceremony to pay tribute to four Lousã residents who participated in the 1936 Sailors' Revolt, an insurrection against the Salazarist dictatorship that took place at the mouth of the Tagus and failed, resulting in strong repression. The program includes a historical conference, exhibition of documentation and cultural moments, with the expected presence of relatives of those honored. Among the four participants are Ismael Fernandes, one of the 12 killed in the revolt, Hermínio Martins, who spent 15 years at the Tarrafal Concentration Camp, Adelino Mendes, exiled in Cuba and distinguished by Fidel Castro, and Jorge Antunes dos Santos, who went into exile in France.
